I’m taking Barbara Max Hubbard‘s Agents of Conscious Evolutionclass. Throughout the class, Barbara has referred to “the noosphere.” I thought it might be worth a quick post to take a closer look at this word. One of the interesting things about the “Oneness Consciousness Movement,” is that you can arrive here from multiple directions. My background did not include this word, although I understand it totally the meaning. There are other philosophers with a simpler way of saying the same thing. According to Wikipedia:
The Noosphere (pron.: / ˈnoʊ . ɵsf ɪər /; sometimes noösphere), according to the thought of Vladimir Vernadsky [1] and Teilhard de Chardin, denotes the “sphere of human thought”.[2] The word is derived from the Greek νοῦς (nous “mind“) and σφαῖρα (sphaira “sphere“), in lexical analogy to “atmosphere” and “biosphere“.[3] It was introduced by Pierre Teilhard de Chardin in 1922[4] in his Cosmogenesis.[5]Another possibility is the first use of the term by Édouard Le Roy, who together with Teilhard was listening to lectures of Vladimir Vernadsky at Sorbonne. In 1936 Vernadsky accepted the idea of the Noosphere in a letter to Boris Leonidovich Lichkov (though, he states that the concept derives from Le Roy).[6]

LOL More research and I discovered Jose Arguelles’ “Manifesto of the Noosphere,” easier to understand; almost poetic description:
“You are not separate from me, though you may think that you are. Your mind and mine, the mind of the Earth, are one and the same mind. This one mind is called the noosphere – wrapped like an invisible mantle over the whole of my body, it penetrates every living thing, endowing each with a ray from the spectrum of living consciousness that spreads from the center of the galaxy to our sun, to me and to all of you who dwell on my surface. For those who have eyes to see, ears to hear, and hearts that know from within, the time has come for you to hear my manifesto for the noosphere. Listen, and recite with me: I am one with the Earth. The Earth and my self are one mind.”
Pierre Teilhard de Chardin is one of Barbara Marx Hubbard’s favorite people to quote. For her, it would seem, it all goes back to him and his Cosmogenesis. Although I had heard of Chardin prior to the class, I never paid much attention to him, since I tend to be suspicious of anyone associated with any religion outside of Friends, or Quakers. I’ve been exposed to a wide variety of religion in my almost 60 years of life. From my perspective, Quakers are the most enlightened and least pompous. I am most suspicious of Catholicism, a religion that uses a book edited by a politician (King James), so it’s natural I’d have missed de Chardin and his Cosmogenesis.

This short, rather simple statement explains absolutely everything. It is what science and physicists have proven. Call the “thinking stuff” God if you want; I like to call it the mind of the Universe. It is the mind of the ONE, and all are One. When one can align oneself with the “thinking stuff from which all things are made,” one is living in total harmony with the Universe. There is no fear, there is nothing unhappy; all is God, God is in all; everything is always perfect. This seems to me, a worthy undertaking. I’ll be exploring this process together with you in coming posts. It is my goal to help everyone enter the Noosphere and become one with all; to help all become one.
